Breeding information from the AKC
What ages can a dam and sire breed?
AKC Rules do not allow the registration of a litter out of a dam less than 8 months or more than 12 years of age at the time of mating, or by a sire less than 7 months or more than 12 years of age at the time of mating.

How often can you breed a dam?
Responsible breeders generally do not breed a dam at the first heat to avoid imposing the stress of pregnancy and lactation on a young, growing animal. It is also customary to avoid breeding a dam on consecutive heats to allow sufficient time for recuperation between pregnancies.

Why don't you have a Wisconsin state license to sell puppies?
Wisconsin law states only those breeders producing more than 25 puppies per calendar year are required to be licensed. We generally only produce 2 litters per year with an average of ten puppies per litter. However, we have been inspected on-site by a representative from the AKC, as well as had DNA and Health tests performed on our dogs by Embark.
